CAKE PICNIC: A SWEET BUT BUMPY START.

During my time off, I took the chance to attend the much-talked-about cake picnic.

Cake Picnic has truly become a cake-tastic global sensation this year, and I was excited to finally attend one.

After doing a little digging, I discovered that the very first Cake Picnic only started in April 2024 in San Francisco. Thanks to social media, the idea spread like wildfire, and now people all over the world are hosting their own versions.

For this event, I baked two cakes. One was a soft vanilla cake filled with caramel topped with fresh kiwi, and the other was a strawberry jam cake topped with fresh strawberries.

Since this was the organizers’ very first attempt, I don’t want to be too harsh, but honestly, I think the event could have benefitted from better planning. I dropped off my cakes, snapped a few pictures, and left to have dinner. Later that evening, I checked social media and noticed many people were also commenting on the poor organization.

Hopefully, the next Cake Picnic will be a smoother experience because the concept itself is absolutely delightful, and I’d love to see it done well!

  5. I was also there, an your cake was one of my top 5 cakes in that cake picnic. It looked expensive with the strawberry and kiwi. Truly, It was a bit of a letdown when the event didn't quite match the amazing concept, especially when you put effort to contribute your own delicious cakes.

Hopefully, the organizers will take the social media feedback to heart and the next one will be a much smoother and sweeter experience.
